Collaborative Approaches to Caring for Patients with Substance Use Disorders
This session is part of NAHEWD's national webinar series Bridging HIV, HCV, and SUD: Innovations in the Field. The series will highlight various innovative models and approaches to treating substance use disorder (SUD) in people at risk for and living with HIV.

This presentation will focus on evolving models of integrated care for patients with substance use disorders with focus on our experiences at a tertiary medical center and emphasis on helping patients navigate transitions of care. The learning objectives are:

Discuss the scope of the current opioid crisis.

Define addiction and opioid use disorder (OUD).

Relate neurobiology to addiction and treatment of OUD.

Explain the role of MAT (MOUD) in addiction treatment.

Describe the rationale for new, systematic approaches to the clinical management of opioid use disorder.

List national and local models of care that optimize treatment outcomes by leveraging collaboration.
