Combating the opioid crisis through inter-organizational partnership: A unique academic, EMS, and public health collaboration
This session is part of NAHEWD's national webinar series Bridging HIV and SUD: Innovations in the Field. The series will highlight various innovative models and approaches to treating substance use disorder (SUD) in people at risk for and living with HIV.
The presentation will focus on the collaborative efforts to develop and implement harm reduction, HIV, and overdose prevention efforts in Lowell, Massachusetts. The speakers will discuss their partnership among EMS, public health, and academic partners across different implementation and research projects.
1. To describe a partnership model aimed at decreasing the impacts of the opioid crisis.
2. To discuss collaborative efforts that have aimed to enhance harm reduction services and reduce opioid-related morbidity and mortality in Lowell Massachusetts.
3. To share evaluation and research findings and implications.
